Warm in here?

After a week of rain and storm we've seen that the roof is serving its purpose. The missing front door would have served another as well I assume. So this time we got the insulation done, that appeared easy. We also insulated between the levels more for the sound than for heat and same for the plumbing walls.

The picture above the corner of the family room for example.

Sheetrock that came in as well, it makes a good bunch of piles like this one...

And finally the sheetrock going up, just getting there... It is starting to ressemble real rooms, little by little...
The sheetrock is elevated a little from the floor as we won't have any baseboards but an reveal channel of 1/2 of an inch instead. It's using something like this http://www.fryreglet.com/shape/pop/129.htm setup horizontally.

Multiples updates...

A lot happened since the last update... With the holiday break I did not post enough lately...

First the electrical is done - as much as possible before the sheetrock. Recessed lights are all in place and we made last minute tweaks as you'd expect. A new electrical panel outside is setup as well.

In the garage their is also a switch panel (on the left). More fun is the structured cabling (aka low voltage) which is in place. Even though I tried to simplify as much as possible it makes a very big pile of cables. There is wiring for telephone, security, CAT5, Coax Cable, Dish, and sound in the family room. The panel below is where I will be if I don't answer the phone for the next 2 years I guess...

The fireplace is there too. It wont look like this in the end but the "inside" is in place. There is also a on/off switch (oh well) because it is gas powered....no comment.

For the exterior, the stucco is going to come soon and the black paper and chicken wire is getting installed right now. Also below is puctured an aluminum channel which will separate the two colors of the stucco. It looks quite interesting I have to say... I'm curious to see the end result.

One more pic of the exterior of the fireplace, the stucco preparation which is going on as well.

Finally the roof is almost finished, only the gutters need some more work but the shingles themselves are all in place. We can hope for a dry house now on...

It's now been exactly six month since the project started. I'm not sure if we're on track but it is moving quite nicely and regularly. Next will be the insulation and sheetrock, it's going to start looking like a house pretty soon... more later.
